Job Summary

Austin Community College is seeking a highly skilled Librarian to provide reference services to students, faculty, and staff at the Riverside Campus. As a key member of the library team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the development of library resources and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reference services to students, faculty, and staff, including in-person, phone, email, and online chat support.
  • Collaborate with library staff to maintain records and statistical data, and contribute to collection maintenance, subject bibliography, information literacy support, and web page maintenance.
  • Participate in critical record-keeping practices, including using reference desk software to gather student learning outcome data.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in using PCs, office productivity software, and electronic information resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing reference services in an academic library setting.
  • Knowledge of library principles and practices, including collection development and maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
Working Conditions
  • Work is routinely performed in a library environment, with occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
Compensation

$28.70/hour
