Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hospital Security Officer to join our team at Tenet Florida Physician Services, L.L.C. in a full-time evening shift position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide protection to hospital patients, visitors, employees, and their property.
  • Present a visible security presence to prevent the appearance of criminal opportunity and maintain awareness of the environment to observe potential security risks.
  • Assist patients, guests, and staff by providing general information and access control by checking badges and passes.
  • Perform public service duties as needed, including escorting patients, guests, or employees, and assisting with restraints and lifting of patients.
  • Investigate complaints regarding parking, safety, and security matters, and prepare reports documenting all significant events and investigations.
  • Monitor security and fire equipment, answer telephones, and provide information to the public and hospital staff as needed.
  • Engage in opportunities for additional education and training in criminal law, first aid, defensive tactics, and other topics relevant to security.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in security and/or public law enforcement or military police.
  • Valid State of Michigan driver's license and eligibility for coverage as a driver of DMC vehicles by the DMC's insurance carrier.
  • Academic ability to meet state certification requirements under Public Act 330 and all standards established by Michigan State Police and the Detroit Medical Center for Act 330 certification.
  • Interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and physical conditioning necessary to confront and control potentially hostile persons with minimum risks of personal injury or disruption to hospital operation.
  • Analytical and observational ability to recognize suspicious behavior, criminal activity, and potential safety hazards.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to compose complete, coherent, and concise reports of events and investigations.
