Job Summary

The Security Assistant position is responsible for monitoring physical security equipment and systems at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. This role requires a strong understanding of security objectives and programs, as well as the ability to carry out support tasks related to law enforcement and security administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and respond to physical alarm systems and security cameras
  • Dispatch officers and maintain reports and logs
  • Assess on-scene behavior and determine when to dispatch law enforcement or other personnel
  • Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies and psychiatric emergencies
  • Operate a variety of communications and security equipment, including computers, multi-frequency radios, and multi-line telephone systems
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience in security or law enforcement
  • Knowledge of security or law enforcement objectives and programs
  • Ability to carry out support tasks related to law enforcement and security administration
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The Security Assistant must be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations.
