This position is part of a Career Progression Group, and vacancies may be filled from the recruitment as a Financial Analyst 1, 2, or 3 based on the experience level of the selected candidate(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited institution.

Function of Work:
To conduct budget preparation, review, and monitoring activities.

Level of Work:
Entry.

Supervision Received:
Generally from a higher-level fiscal position.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Location of Work:
May be utilized by various state agencies.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Financial Analyst 2 by less complexity and fewer variables in budget(s) prepared, reviewed, and monitored.
EXAMPLES OF COMMON DUTIES INCLUDE:


Monitoring revenues and expenditures for multiple programs to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and reporting performance against contracts to meet objectives.

Preparing estimates to complete (ETC) and spend plans, auditing invoices, and providing briefings and documentation for financial assessments.

Collaborating with Budget Administrators and project managers to develop program budgets and identify financial or operational risks associated with contracts or projects.

Ensuring budget proposals comply with program regulations.

Providing project summary status reports to Budget Administrators as required and organizing budget data in a clear and intuitive manner.
