Job Description:
Work Location: LSU AgCenter School of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role is grant-funded, with responsibilities primarily focused on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed, 60%) and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP, 40%).
Position Responsibilities: The accountant will support the processing of SNAP-Ed invoices and oversee all administrative fiscal activities related to SNAP-Ed. This includes acting as the fiscal liaison for the grant with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and providing necessary documentation for monthly invoices. The candidate will verify staff salaries and their allocations to the SNAP-Ed grant using the university's HR system. Additionally, the accountant will prepare budget revisions as required and maintain ledgers of expenditures, providing monthly financial summaries to the principal investigator (PI) and program manager. The incumbent will also collaborate with Sponsored Programs accounting to manage the fiscal elements of the grant and assist in procuring SNAP-Ed supplies and educational resources.
Accountant duties for
EFNEP:
The incumbent will evaluate monthly EFNEP financial transactions and documentation from various parishes and the state office, ensuring compliance with federal and state purchasing regulations. The accountant will monitor expenses using Quicken and the university's HR system, preparing financial reports for EFNEP and discussing financial activities with the P.I.
Support both programs in adhering to fiscal year-end closeout procedures, ensuring all expenditures are accurately reported in financial statements.
The applicant will be expected to meet established deadlines to ensure that EFNEP and SNAP-Ed financial reports are accurate and transparent.
Qualification Requirements: A bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills, along with proficiency in computer applications. Familiarity with Workday, Excel, Quicken, and other accounting software is essential. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical for interacting with diverse audiences. The applicant should demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others and work effectively under supervision. Successful candidates will display a positive attitude and a commitment to enhancing the lives of others.
