Job Overview

The role of the Accounts Receivable Posting Specialist involves the meticulous posting of revenue across various payers. This position demands precision and timeliness in the posting of revenue, including daily and month-end reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and accurately post payments from Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial insurers, and other entities.
  • Evaluate all self-pay claims to ensure proper handling.
  • Support facility managers in understanding payment postings related to patient accounts.
  • Conduct follow-ups with payers regarding any missing explanations of benefits.
  • Document follow-up notes related to claims.
  • Update patient demographic and insurance information in the EHR system as necessary.
  • Stay informed about changes affecting all payers.
  • Notify the Insurance Director regarding payers that are reimbursing according to the current fee schedule.
  • Maintain awareness of managed care contracts negotiated by Albany Area Primary Health Care, including plan benefits and patient responsibilities.
  • Review accounts to ensure that insurance adjustments are recorded accurately and promptly.
  • Execute write-offs in accordance with financial policies and escalate account issues to the Insurance Director.
  • Analyze claim denials and report trends to the Insurance Director.
  • Request refunds in compliance with financial policies.
  • Facilitate staff development by providing training and support related to insurance and demographic data.
  • Ensure that credit balances are addressed consistently.
  • Communicate with the Insurance Manager regarding potential claim denial issues due to coding.
  • Oversee end-of-day information processing.
  • Ensure all relevant documents are submitted to accounting on a daily basis.
  • Scan paper remittances into the EHR system.
  • Assist the enrollment team in converting paper payments to electronic formats when permitted by the insurance provider.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Possess a solid understanding of medical business practices, insurance reimbursement protocols, patient accounting systems, and data entry procedures specific to patient billing.

Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Exhibit the ability to interact effectively with the public while maintaining patient confidentiality.
