Job Title: Oncology Nurse Navigator

Inova Health System is seeking a highly skilled Oncology Nurse Navigator to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Oncology Nurse Navigator will provide safe and effective care to patients with cancer, guiding them through the healthcare system and ensuring seamless transitions between care settings. This role requires strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient care plans, including answering questions, scheduling appointments, and providing community resources.
  • Function as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring timely follow-up on treatment and supportive care recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with healthcare providers and community resources to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health and psychosocial needs, developing care plans in collaboration with healthcare providers and patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address patient questions and responses about the care process and treatment options.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers, promoting their ability to understand and participate in the healthcare process.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years' progressive clinical nursing experience with primary care management of patient populations.
  • BSN degree.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification in oncology within 2 years of employment.
  • Strong oncology knowledge, basic knowledge of managed care, working knowledge of insurance coverage and procedures, working knowledge of community resources, understanding of healthcare facilities and processes, and proficient computer skills.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, day shift.
