Program Mission: The Solid Waste Management program aims to minimize waste through prevention and reuse, eliminate toxic substances from the environment, and responsibly manage residual materials.

Telework Flexibility: This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work, thereby reducing commuting time and environmental impact. Candidates are encouraged to inquire about telework and flexible scheduling options.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison for all budgetary and financial matters, collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Program Manager, and other senior management. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing and overseeing a budget of approximately $100 million, projecting revenue and expenditure trends, and preparing budgetary recommendations for executive management. Providing expert guidance and consultation in financial management to ensure the fiscal stability of the Solid Waste Management Program. Advising on budget-related policies and procedures, making strategic financial decisions that have significant policy implications. Conducting accurate and timely reporting on budget performance, while forecasting potential issues and implementing solutions to align with agency goals. Interpreting and advising on budget policies for staff and management, and managing the fiscal note process effectively. Adapting to a fast-paced environment and managing changing responsibilities efficiently.
Qualifications:

Required:
A total of 9 years of experience in senior-level financial functions, including budget management and accounting, with a focus on Washington state budget processes. This includes at least two years of management experience.
Education: A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
Desired:
Experience in Washington State Agency budget management and proficiency in state budget systems is advantageous. Strong communication skills are essential for conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
