We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our team at Survival Systems Staffing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power electronics design, development, and support.

The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and support of complex electronic power systems for the defense/aerospace industry. This includes full-stack power electronics development, from concept through detailed design, analysis, board layout, testing, and delivery.

Candidates must have hands-on experience with power supplies, analog electronics, and product packaging for harsh environments. Familiarity with IPC Class 3 high-reliability standards is preferred.

The successful candidate will be involved in the design and development of electronics circuitry, including topology selection, component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout. They will also be responsible for implementing AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems, modeling and analyzing analog and power electronics designs, and performing detailed schematic design and PCB layout in Altium Designer.

Additionally, the Senior Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing test plans for power electronics systems, performing bring-up and design verification testing of power electronics circuits and modules, and ensuring compliance with EMI/EMC standards and best practices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a minimum of 7 years of related experience. They will also have experience designing ruggedized, highly-reliable electromechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop electronics circuitry, including topology selection, component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
  • Implement AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems.
  • Model and analyze analog and power electronics designs, including worst-case circuit analysis, stress analysis, small signal and stability analysis, power loss and efficiency optimization, and power integrity analysis.
  • Perform detailed schematic design and PCB layout in Altium Designer.
  • Design transformers and inductors.
  • Complete printed wiring board placements and routing.
  • Select parts per requirements from a wide variety of electro-mechanical components.
  • Prepare engineering analyses, including electrical stress/derating analysis and worst-case parts tolerance analysis.
  • Develop and execute test plans for power electronics systems, including design verification test plans, requirements compliance matrices, system integration and qualification test plans, and production acceptance test plans.
  • Perform bring-up and design verification testing of power electronics circuits and modules.
  • Own end-to-end design of power converters, power management, and control circuits.
  • Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC standards and best practices.
  • Review applicable military and industry requirements, specifications, and standards for design inputs.

Requirements include:

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience.
  • Experience designing ruggedized, highly-reliable electromechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environments.
  • Familiarity with IPC Class 3 high-reliability standards is preferred.
  • Experience with EAGLE, MATLAB, and Python preferred.
