Senior Power Electronics Engineer II

About the Role:

CesiumAstro is seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Electronics Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-reliability power electronics systems for our satellite and aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop power converters, power management and control circuits, and other power electronics systems from concept to production.
  • Perform detailed schematic design, PCB layout, and testing of power electronics designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate power electronics systems into our satellite and aerospace platforms.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of our engineering team.
  • Stay up-to-date with new power electronics technology and industry trends to drive innovation and intellectual property generation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 6 years of industry or university research experience in board-level power electronics design, analysis, and test.
  • Experience owning the design phase of power electronics or power subsystems, including power architecture and requirements definition, trade studies, power converter and analog electronics design, component selection, and detailed design.
  • Experience performing or guiding complex PCB layout for analog and power electronics.
  • Experience with analysis and simulation tools such as SPICE, LTSPICE, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, PLECS, Simulink, MATLAB, or MathCAD.
  • Strong laboratory testing and troubleshooting experience for prototyping, design verification testing and qualification of analog and power electronics hardware.
  • Direct experience designing high-reliability electronics for automotive, space or defense applications, including part derating, worst-case analysis, and thermal constraints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience delivering subcircuit or board designs to production and deployment.
  • Proficiency in printed circuit board design tools such as Altium, OrCAD/Allegro, PADS/Xpedition, or similar.
  • Experience running board-level power integrity simulation tools such as Ansys SiWave, ADS SIPro, or HyperLynx.
  • Design for space radiation environments.
