Position Overview

As the initial point of contact for the Cashiering/Student Accounts Office, the Cashier warmly greets and addresses inquiries from students, parents, employees, and visitors.

The Cashier processes payments received from students, parents, University departments, and external agencies. This role also entails managing third-party agencies, processing, tracking, and reconciling various reports.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service and Student Engagement:

Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors. Engage extensively with students, parents, University departments, and external agencies. Safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of student information in accordance with federal, state, and University regulations.

Access and interpret student account details from the PeopleSoft system to assist with inquiries regarding account balances or billing issues.

Address questions and support students with the Maverick Payment Plan. Aid students in obtaining 1098-T tax documentation and related information.

Payments and Deposits Management:

Responsibilities:
Process all campus payments, including those for other University departmental fees or fines. Verify and balance the cash drawer daily for bank deposits. Assist campus departments with inquiries regarding departmental deposits.

Support in auditing and reconciling tuition calculations, receipts, and financial aid, including interfaces with other systems as necessary.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with external third-party agencies to apply benefits to student account balances. Oversee and maintain each contract from initial setup, billing, to receipt of payment from the agency.

Responsibilities:
Respond to incoming calls and manage Cashiering/Student Accounts email correspondence. Open and distribute daily mail to the appropriate staff member or other University department.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:
One year of experience in accounting or cashiering.

Required Skills:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication abilities.

Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
