The University of Nebraska Omaha is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Scholarship Financial Services Coordinator. This position plays a vital role in supporting the Assistant Directors of Scholarships and is integral to the management of various scholarship programs.


Key Responsibilities


This role encompasses a range of duties, including:

  • Processing External Scholarship Funds: Responsible for the management of deposits, tracking, and oversight of approximately $3 million in external scholarship funds. This includes adding awards to student financial aid packages and coordinating fund returns to donors when necessary.
  • Establishing and Modifying Scholarships: Set up and adjust significant scholarship programs, including the Goodrich and Buffett Scholarships, which serve around 1200 recipients and manage $12.1 million in funds.
  • Monitoring Enrollment Changes: Keep track of tuition-specific scholarships and remissions, adjusting awards as necessary based on enrollment changes or tuition refunds.
  • Calculating and Adjusting Financial Aid Packages: Ensure compliance with federal regulations and university policies by calculating and adjusting aid packages to prevent overawards.
  • Awarding Remission Scholarships: Assist in the awarding of new student remission scholarships, including running eligibility queries and managing communication processes.
  • Managing Third-Party Contributions: Analyze third-party activity on student accounts, adjusting financial aid packages accordingly and communicating changes to students.
  • Customer Service and Project Management: Engage in various projects as assigned and provide proactive customer service support both via phone and at the front counter.
  • Assisting with Athletic Scholarships: Support the processing of athletic scholarships, ensuring proper integration into student aid packages.
  • Departmental Scholarship Processing: Aid in the processing and verification of departmental scholarships, ensuring compliance with fund budgets and award criteria.

Qualifications


To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in financial aid or a related field within higher education is necessary. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be evaluated.

Work Schedule


This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M., with potential variations.
