Job Overview:

Logistics Driver III

The Logistics Driver III plays a crucial role within the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services, reporting directly to the Regional Business Services Manager (BSM) within the Regional Administrative Services (RAS).

Key responsibilities include the assembly, repair, delivery, and installation of various equipment, furniture, and essential business supplies.

Responsibilities include receiving, signing for, and inspecting packages delivered to the mailroom or warehouse, ensuring they are properly distributed to the appropriate personnel.

Additionally, the role involves processing and distributing document service requests, sorting and delivering mail to various office locations.

The Logistics Driver III is responsible for driving and inspecting vehicles, maintaining detailed vehicle maintenance logs for monthly reporting, ensuring vehicles are in optimal operating condition, and performing minor repairs as necessary.

Inventory management of supplies required for mail and copy services is also a critical aspect of this position, along with performing warehouse duties such as tracking inventory and managing surplus state property.

Assisting with office relocations, completing minor building repairs, and routine maintenance are also part of the job. The driver will also participate in the Regional Disaster Deployment Team, responsible for delivering and setting up emergency equipment and supplies.



Core Responsibilities:

Regular attendance is expected in accordance with agency policies, along with performing additional duties as assigned.

Driving state agency vehicles, including trucks and cargo vans, to deliver and pick up large items such as furniture, IT equipment, and emergency supplies is a primary duty.

Responsible for safe loading, unloading, and efficient delivery of cargo, evaluating delivery routes for cost-effectiveness and time efficiency while considering traffic and safety regulations.

Minor vehicle repairs may be required en route, such as changing a flat tire.

Monitoring vehicle maintenance records and scheduling regular upkeep to ensure vehicles remain in good working order is essential.

Updating vehicle logs with mileage, refueling, and maintenance activities is required, along with compiling data for monthly vehicle reports.

Training new hires on safety practices and job responsibilities related to vehicle usage is also part of the role. (30%)

The Logistics Driver III will also perform shipping and receiving tasks in the warehouse and mailroom.

This includes the physical receipt and inspection of packages, confirming acceptable delivery.

Documenting received items using the financial system to ensure accuracy with purchase orders is essential.

Identifying recipients for package deliveries and arranging routing is part of the role, as well as processing outgoing mail and shipping packages.

Maintaining records of postage and packages is also required. (25%)

Standard warehouse duties include safe storage and inventory management of materials and supplies.

Operating necessary equipment for moving and lifting items is essential.

Monitoring stock levels and advising management when reorders are needed is part of the responsibilities. (25%)

The Logistics Driver III will also assemble and install furniture and equipment as required.

Adjustments to modular furniture installations will be made to meet customer needs.

Minor building repairs and maintenance tasks, such as painting and plumbing adjustments, will also be performed.

Assisting with office moves and overseeing contractor activities for installations is part of the job.

Participation in the Regional Disaster Deployment Team includes delivering and setting up emergency equipment in disaster areas. (10%)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of vehicle operations and basic maintenance practices, including safe loading and unloading methods.
Familiarity with state and federal traffic regulations for delivery operations.
Understanding of warehousing procedures and safe equipment usage.

Skills in operating vehicles, managing multiple priorities, and using standard office software.

Ability to adhere to traffic laws, maintain accurate records, and perform basic maintenance tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive working relationships with colleagues and customers.
Ability to travel locally as required.
