About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Installer to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a Fire Alarm Installer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our customers' facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation of fire alarm systems, including start-up through final testing.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions, and read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, and pick up and properly dispose of all trash associated with SimplexGrinnell's work.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment as required, including but not limited to hard hats and work boots.
  • May be required to work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer installation requirements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Successful completion of a drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 pounds.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an electrical trade.
  • Construction experience.
  • Low-voltage experience is a plus.
  • 2 years of Fire Alarm and/or Security System experience.
