Job Title: Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Designer

At GPAC, we are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Designer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing fire alarm and/or sprinkler systems for commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed fire alarm and sprinkler system designs for commercial projects, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Create accurate and code-compliant design drawings and specifications, utilizing software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints, providing expert technical guidance.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary information for design development, ensuring accurate and efficient design implementation.
  • Review and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical plans, identifying potential design issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Prepare material and equipment specifications and cost estimates, providing accurate and timely information to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases, ensuring successful project completion.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of designs and revisions, ensuring easy access to project information.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, with a strong foundation in fire protection principles and practices.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire alarm and sprinkler system design, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs and projects.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation programs, with a strong understanding of industry codes and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, as well as local building codes, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective manner.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex design problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and project delivery.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, with a strong understanding of design principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and installation teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Water-Based Systems Layout is a plus, demonstrating a high level of expertise and knowledge in fire protection design and installation.
