Television Broadcast Operations Specialist

Hearst Television is seeking a skilled Broadcast Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in ensuring the technical excellence of our on-air signals and associated equipment throughout the entire broadcasting process. You will play a crucial role in supporting both in-house and remote production efforts, reporting directly to the Assistant Chief Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate robotic cameras and assist in studio floor direction.
  • Manage the movement and arrangement of props and sets during both in-house and on-location productions, which may involve handling heavy equipment.
  • Ensure the studios are well-maintained, including the cleaning of sets and floors.
  • Understand and maintain the lighting grid and control board, including changing light bulbs and adjusting fixtures as necessary.
  • Prepare microphones and IFBs for all on-camera appearances.
  • Exhibit basic multimedia computer skills and familiarity with current internet technologies, including downloading materials for promotional and commercial content.
  • Assist with promotional activities at community events sponsored by the station as required.
  • Work in the control room in various technical roles, including camera control, audio, and technical directing.
  • Engage in non-linear editing for TV news and creative services productions.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the TV Operations Manager.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an operations technician in a commercial television environment, with proficiency in operating diverse broadcast equipment.
  • A solid foundation in the operation of broadcast television systems and equipment is essential.
  • Relevant military experience will be taken into account.
