About the Role

We are seeking an experienced senior executive to lead our business development and partnerships efforts. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities to drive growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to support our corporate and scientific mandate.
  • Spearhead our global therapeutics-focused business development activities and manage a small team of corporate development professionals.
  • Work closely with our executive and scientific leaders to source opportunities that align with our therapeutic areas of focus.
  • Lead out-licensing initiatives to identify potential partners for select programs in our portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships with large pharma or biotech companies to scale or accelerate our impact.
  • Run partnership discussion processes, including due diligence, term sheet development, and collaboration agreement negotiation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in due diligence, including scientific, clinical, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing, financial, legal, and IP experts.
  • Partner with our project management team and scientific leadership to drive best-in-class alliance management capabilities.
  • Develop and communicate clear business cases to our management team and board.
  • Work closely with our corporate and strategic finance colleagues to inform valuation of opportunities.
  • Represent insitro at external meetings, conferences, and seminars to access new opportunities and build external networks.
About You
  • Advanced medical and/or scientific degree (MD, PhD, or both) or equivalent practical experience is required.
  • 15+ years of experience in business development, including scientific diligence and complex transaction experience across both buy-side and sell-side BD is required.
  • Strong exposure to advanced computational approaches, including AI and machine learning, is required.
  • Experience in neuroscience, metabolic disease, or oncology is a plus.
  • A thorough understanding of due diligence, asset valuation, and portfolio management is required.
  • Successful track record in sourcing, evaluating, prioritizing, pursuing, and onboarding high-value clinical-stage assets, preclinical assets, and research platforms.
  • Experience leading or overseeing alliance management in pharma/biotech collaborations is required.
  • Robust understanding of the broader healthcare data landscape is required.
  • Strong capabilities in scientific and strategic analysis and communication are required.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders are required.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams is required.
  • Strong network in biopharma, life science, and VC communities is required.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a target starting salary of $270,000 - $350,000, participation in our Annual Performance Bonus Plan, and our Equity Incentive Plan.
