Materials Scientist

We are seeking a dedicated Chemist to engage in advanced materials research and testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a variety of tribology experiments and will play a crucial role in our laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Execute wear and friction tribology experiments by utilizing a range of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Analyze and interpret experimental results, identifying any anomalies and proposing solutions for further investigation.
- Characterize material properties through various microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, such as Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Laser-Scanning Confocal Microscopy, Surface Profilometry, and Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
- Document and report all experimental findings accurately, and present results during team discussions.
- Prepare and press samples for tribological assessments, coordinating the machining of test samples and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot and calibrate laboratory instruments, while also authoring and preparing operational manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Adhere to all safety protocols and best practices, supporting process safety management (PSM) by maintaining laboratory safety documentation.
- Manage inventory by ordering and purchasing necessary supplies, including chemicals, resins, and experimental samples.
- Coordinate external laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with proper shipping regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Preferred knowledge or experience with polymers.
- Willingness to learn a diverse range of testing methodologies and instrumentation.
- Prior experience with mechanical testing equipment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW and CAD software is a plus.
- Experience in surface profilometry and other micro-analysis techniques is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage responsibilities effectively.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
