Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins One Water Utility is seeking an experienced and motivated manager to lead the high-performing operations and maintenance teams of the drinking water treatment facility. This individual will serve as the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) and be responsible for setting and nurturing a positive workplace culture, utilizing good emotional intelligence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Agree to assume the duties of Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) in accordance with CDPHE Regulation 100 for the operation and maintenance of assigned facilities.
  • Assure the proper operation of all water and/or wastewater plant processes, including plant flow control, chemical feed systems, sludge processing and handling systems, nutrient removal, process control, and SCADA system review.
  • Supervise the Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Electrical and Instrumentation groups and Scheduler position.
  • May be required to provide on-call backup to the crew operators after hours on a rotating basis.
  • Manage systems containing hazardous chemicals and respond during leaks and emergencies.
  • Coordinate with other teams within the assigned division and elsewhere in the organization to collaboratively manage all aspects of work related to, impacted by, or which may impact plant operations.
Requirements
  • Five (5) years experience and/or combination of experience and training working drinking water or water reclamation facilities, as relevant to the assigned area and facilities.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Class A Water and/or Wastewater Operator license, as appropriate to the assigned facility.
  • For Water Production - Level 4 Colorado Water Distribution Certification or equivalent reciprocal certification is required (or ability to obtain during employment).
