Position Summary:
The Graphic Production Specialist plays a crucial role in transforming customer-provided artwork into formats suitable for printing. This position ensures a smooth and efficient workflow from the initial scheduling of artwork through to the proofing process and the final production-ready files.
Key Responsibilities:
- Modify or recreate customer artwork using graphic design software such as Illustrator and Photoshop to meet production standards.
- Generate production proofs, ensuring that separations accurately reflect the final layout for client approval.
- Prepare all files according to specific printing requirements, including color adjustments, trapping, and applying necessary tolerances.
- Exercise independent judgment in assembling graphic files, evaluating needs and product specifications to create a final press-ready file.
- Ensure all files adhere to strict branding guidelines.
- Provide recommendations for customer artwork based on the capabilities of Flexographic and Digital printing.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Phenix's artistic and manufacturing capabilities to offer the best advice on design and departmental processes.
- Stay informed about all equipment and software utilized in the department.
- Understand calibration, profiling, and workflow procedures effectively.
- Conduct routine maintenance on departmental equipment.
- Proofread all work, including customer proofs and final production files.
- Ensure accuracy in all orders to facilitate efficient workflow, communicating any artwork changes to relevant teams to ensure timely updates in materials and processes.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Graphics/Prepress Manager.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage administrative tasks, including maintaining records and reports.
- Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, showcasing effective time management and organizational skills.
- Interact professionally with a diverse range of individuals, maintaining flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exhibit professionalism and respect towards all internal and external stakeholders.
- Fulfill reasonable requests from management to support the efficient operation of the department.
- Support the company’s mission, core values, and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Preferred experience in production art and flexographic printing.
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design or Printing Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong work ethic, time management, and troubleshooting skills, along with a positive attitude and attention to detail.
- Proficient in graphic design software, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Able to work effectively in both Macintosh and PC environments.
Physical Requirements:
This position is performed indoors in a controlled environment. Tasks are conducted in close proximity to others and may involve exposure to distracting sounds and lights. The role requires occasional standing, walking, and bending, with frequent sitting and lifting/moving up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand usage is necessary for operating computers and other office equipment.
