Leidos' Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) division is in search of a Security Systems Validation Engineer to become a vital part of our innovative engineering team. This role is focused on utilizing advanced technology to create groundbreaking solutions that enhance safety and efficiency in global travel and trade.

As a member of the SES team, you will collaborate with a diverse and committed group dedicated to developing industry-leading screening technologies.

Our team is responsible for delivering a comprehensive range of fully automated and integrated systems designed for aviation, shipping ports, border security, and critical infrastructure clients. These systems are essential for threat detection, screening baggage, cargo, and individuals at checkpoints worldwide.


The Security Systems Validation Engineer will engage closely with both Software and Hardware Engineers throughout the product development lifecycle. You will be accountable for thoroughly testing our security detection systems to ensure they operate effectively and meet established specifications.

This role encompasses testing both software and hardware components within embedded systems.

Candidates should possess experience with both software and hardware systems, ideally demonstrating proficiency in both Windows and Linux environments.

Formal test reporting and documentation creation are essential components of this role.

The responsibilities associated with this position may evolve over time and include, but are not limited to, the following:


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting software release testing across all phases for Scanner, Viewing Station, and Integrated conveyor systems.
  • Performing End-of-Life (EOL) Qualification Testing to assess components intended to replace outdated items (e.g., video cards, hard drives, monitors, computers).
  • Setting up and reconfiguring computers as necessary.
  • Generating formal documentation for released products; experience in technical writing is highly valued.

Essential Qualifications:


A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with 4-8 years of directly applicable experience, or a Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

At least 4 years of experience in testing both software and hardware systems.

Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Familiarity with creating and defining technical requirements.

Willingness to travel to client locations as needed.

Some physical lifting may be required (typically less than 20 pounds).


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in technical writing.
  • Basic knowledge of LINUX operating systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) is a significant advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware components, such as replacing video cards and drives, is a plus.

Compensation Information:


The pay range for this position is between $68,000 and $124,550. This range serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation. Factors influencing the final offer include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
