Our team is responsible for delivering a comprehensive suite of fully automated and integrated systems designed for aviation, shipping ports, border crossings, and critical infrastructure clients. These systems are essential for threat detection, screening baggage, cargo, and individuals at various checkpoints worldwide.

The Systems Test Engineer will engage closely with various departments including Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Training, Field Service, and clients throughout the product development lifecycle. The primary goal is to qualify and maintain Leidos security detection products in accordance with established requirements and objectives, both at the manufacturing site and post-installation. Candidates should possess experience with integrated systems, testing both software and hardware, and ideally be proficient in both Windows and Linux environments. The role requires formal test reporting and documentation generation. Responsibilities may evolve over time and include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a variety of tests and frameworks (integration, performance, regression, etc.) to ensure system software meets or exceeds product specifications.
  • Conduct software testing within a systems environment as part of the product qualification process to fulfill customer requirements for deployment.
  • Create, execute, and document relevant test plans and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with development team members to identify and resolve defects early in the development cycle.
  • Produce documentation packages and adhere to necessary configuration management processes for the official release of software to manufacturing.
  • Lead discussions regarding software/system quality and communicate project status and issues to management and stakeholders as necessary.
  • Support Field Service Engineering in assessing and troubleshooting installation issues to assist clients in resolving problems.
  • Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with all stakeholders involved in the product line.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree with at least 2 years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting software and hardware within integrated systems.
  • Proficient in working with Windows-based operating systems and applications.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with developing test cases to validate defined system requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations as needed.
  • Some physical lifting may be required (typically less than 20 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with networks, distributed software environments, or cloud-based architectures.
  • Understanding of the product development process and configuration management tools.
  • Background in programming and/or electronics.
  • Basic knowledge of LINUX.
  • Experience in technical writing.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
