Position Overview
The Avionics, Sensors, and Electronic Warfare Department at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is on the lookout for talented scientists and engineers across various experience levels. These roles are integral to a collaborative team environment where diverse expertise converges to design, develop, and maintain hardware, software, integration, and data products that support a broad spectrum of U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps aircraft and ground systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in the development and support of systems such as aircraft mission computers, common avionics, unmanned systems, radar warning receivers, countermeasures systems, missile warning systems, communication systems, and Electronic Warfare mission planning systems.
- Participate in model-based systems engineering, threat weapon system analysis, system and software architecture design, software development, and database design.
- Contribute to system evaluation, intelligence data sensor engineering, and countermeasures development.
- Review, compose, and update technical documentation including system requirements, design specifications, white papers, and engineering notes.
- Attend and facilitate project-related meetings, including milestone reviews and technical discussions.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET accredited institution in fields such as software and computer engineering, computer science, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, general engineering, mathematics, or physics. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
Preferred Knowledge Areas
Familiarity with electronic warfare principles, RF engineering, electronics hardware design, software engineering, data sciences, artificial intelligence, machine learning, systems engineering, and relevant commercial design and development tools will be advantageous.
