LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER - PRECINCT 2

Salary: $39,562.00 minimum salary

Position Overview

This role involves executing law enforcement duties in alignment with the assigned constable responsibilities. Key tasks include safeguarding individuals and property, maintaining and preparing court documentation, serving legal documents, and upholding regulations.

Positions within this classification are responsible for routine law enforcement activities and identifying necessary corrective measures to address inconsistencies; responding to inquiries; and managing documentation and records.


Core Responsibilities

The following tasks are typical for this position.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.


Safeguards and serves the community while protecting property; patrols designated areas and maintains public order; enforces applicable State, County, and Federal laws; ensures the safety of lives and property.


Drafts search warrants for various locations; serves legal documents; enforces criminal and traffic regulations as necessary; delivers Civil Process Subpoenas; responds to service calls.


Acts as a backup for nearby deputies; secures crime scenes; assists with welfare checks; provides escort for funeral processions.


Verifies warrants for agencies across different states; coordinates with the district attorney's office regarding extradition; arranges for the transport of inmates from local jails on county warrants.


Apprehends individuals brought in by bondsmen and attorneys wanted by the county or other jurisdictions; transports detainees to court and/or correctional facilities.


Assists with pat-downs of all incoming and outgoing suspects; inputs data into the computer system to generate accurate reports for submission.


Implements rules and regulations and aids in resolving issues deputies may face, including physical intervention and emergency support; addresses challenges in a proactive and professional manner.


Provides assistance and information to employees, management, vendors, citizens, local businesses, and other interested parties regarding constable functions; acts as a liaison between supervisors, vendors, and other departments concerning departmental matters.

Clarifies policies and procedures.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications


High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of experience as a Peace Officer, in law enforcement, and/or safety support roles in public relations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification is mandatory.

ADA Compliance

Physical Requirements: Tasks necessitate the ability to exert moderate physical effort in medium work, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling heavy objects. Tasks may include extended periods of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion at a workstation.

A physical agility assessment will be required.

Sensory Requirements: Certain tasks require the ability to perceive and differentiate sounds and visual signals. Some tasks necessitate effective oral communication.

Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed with exposure to challenging environmental conditions.


This position is subject to a one (1) year probationary period prior to Civil Service eligibility; must complete the Civil Service Law Enforcement Exam.
