We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Geosyntec Consultants. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for applying engineering skills to projects involving landfills, mines, brownfields redevelopment, and other water and waste containment systems.
Key Responsibilities- Civil Design and Site Layout: Develop and implement civil design and site layout plans for various projects.
- Geotechnical Engineering Analyses: Conduct geotechnical engineering analyses, including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage assessments.
- Site Characterization: Conduct geotechnical and environmental site characterization, including exploration oversight in the field.
- Foundation Design: Design shallow and deep foundation systems, including bearing capacity, settlement, axial, and lateral capacity assessments.
- Instrumentation and Monitoring: Develop, install, and manage instrumentation monitoring systems for various projects.
- Project Management: Assist with project management and proposal preparation, including developing project plans, budgets, and schedules.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications.
- Fieldwork and Construction Monitoring: Conduct fieldwork associated with design and construction services, including monitoring civil construction projects.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (required). Advanced degree in the same (preferred).
- Licensure: Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred).
- Experience: At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills: Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software. Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, Slope/W, Seep/W, Sigma/W, Slide2D, Slide3D, PLAXIS 2D, LPILE, and gINT.
- Travel: Regular fieldwork and overnight travel required.
The typical base salary range for this position is $98,140/year - $147,275/year (Los Angeles) or $93,875/year - $140,870/year (Costa Mesa).
