About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Technology Manager for Unmanned Systems to lead a team of experts in technology development, scientific inquiry, and acquisition support.

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing full-spectrum systems engineering activities to rapidly develop, mature, and transition capabilities to the operational warfighter.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and science theories and practices as they relate to Undersea Warfare (USW), Subsea/Seabed Warfare, and Undersea Warfare Systems.

They will also have leadership experience in engineering and systems engineering, with a focus on advanced technologies and naval systems.

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and leading diverse Science and Technology (S&T), and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) technical efforts.

They will also have knowledge of business strategies, processes, and systems associated with operating a large, complex R&D organization.

The ideal candidate will be able to develop and execute strategic operational and investment plans that integrate with Navy Research and Development Enterprise (NR&DE) and NAVSEA Warfare Center strategies and policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of experts in technology development, scientific inquiry, and acquisition support
  • Manage full-spectrum systems engineering activities to rapidly develop, mature, and transition capabilities to the operational warfighter
  • Collaborate with OPNAV, PEOs, industry, UARCS, and fleet elements to conceive, prototype, and demonstrate new UUV technologies and capabilities
  • Work with external research organizations to identify and facilitate collaboration opportunities, investments, and technology needs
  • Interact with Fleet representatives, officers, and planners to ensure alignment with fleet needs and mission sets
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance
  • Must be able to complete ethics orientation and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of engineering and science theories and practices as they relate to Undersea Warfare (USW), Subsea/Seabed Warfare, and Undersea Warfare Systems
  • Leadership experience in engineering and systems engineering, with a focus on advanced technologies and naval systems
  • Ability to develop and lead diverse Science and Technology (S&T), and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) technical efforts
  • Knowledge of business strategies, processes, and systems associated with operating a large, complex R&D organization
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic operational and investment plans that integrate with Navy Research and Development Enterprise (NR&DE) and NAVSEA Warfare Center strategies and policy
Education
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Or, a combination of education and experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering
