Job Overview

The role involves collaborating with SERCO clients within the WIOA Youth initiative to guide them towards achieving self-sufficiency. This includes conducting intake assessments and managing cases while providing essential support services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the mission and values of SERCO.
  • Engage with clients or their representatives to collect information for evaluating service requirements.
  • Oversee the intake procedure for center clients to establish eligibility for available services.
  • Perform comprehensive interviews, evaluations, and skills assessments for eligible participants entering career center programs.
  • Accurately complete necessary application documents and forms in a timely manner.
  • Administer and assess interest, aptitude, and achievement tests according to established protocols, providing results to assist participants in setting realistic goals and exploring educational and training options.
  • Contribute to the creation of materials and facilitate workshops, job clubs, and group meetings for various programs.
  • Support clients in accessing fundamental self-help services through effective utilization of the resource center.
  • Stay informed about updates and changes impacting applicant eligibility and reporting obligations.
  • Direct ineligible applicants or those with different training interests to suitable agencies, training centers, or community organizations.
  • Maintain comprehensive participant records in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Regularly input data and maintain TWIST records.
  • Compile and disseminate precise intake and assessment reports.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficient in interviewing and screening clients for services.

Ability to interpret eligibility criteria effectively.

Skilled in administering and scoring assessment tools.

Capable of preparing detailed reports.

Adept at calculating income levels accurately.

Ability to analyze participant documentation to assess eligibility.

Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with participants.

Familiarity with assessment instruments used in workforce center settings.

Basic mathematical knowledge, including addition and subtraction.

Proficient in using personal computers.

Excellent communication abilities; bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Commitment to treating clients with dignity and respect.

Willingness to travel within the state as required.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.

Two years of relevant experience in intake and certification processes, or a combination of education and experience.

Alternatively, candidates may have been employed with SERCO in a temporary capacity for a minimum of six months.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License and appropriate automobile liability insurance as mandated by Texas law.
  • Access to reliable transportation for necessary home visits and travel within the service area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this position, employees may be required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of driving for prolonged durations and may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds, including setting up display areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is fast-paced and physically and mentally demanding, requiring constant communication.
