Job Summary

The Collections Specialist plays a critical role in performing a wide variety of collections functions and related activities for an assigned portfolio of customer accounts. This includes contacting customers to bring accounts to a current status, reconciling and applying customer payments, and monitoring the status of delinquent accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contact customers via phone, fax, email, or standard letter to bring accounts to a current status.
  • Reconcile and apply customer payments posted on account.
  • Monitor the status of delinquent accounts and take care to see high-priority tasks to completion.
  • Research customer inquiries related to billing concerns and misapplied payments.
  • Process payments from delinquent customers and negotiate payment arrangements and/or settlements when necessary.
  • Engage management and/or sales when required or appropriate to expedite resolution of customer issues and/or outstanding receivables.
  • Accurately and concisely document actions taken on assigned accounts with the system application.
  • Respond timely to requests and questions from other departments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of collections or relevant experience required.
