UNM Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Supervisor for Outpatient Registered Nurses to oversee our Primary Care Clinic operations. This position is a full-time, day shift role.

Salary Range: Minimum $66,768 - Midpoint $85,113*

*Compensation is based on total relevant experience.

*Salary is calculated based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) or 40 hours per week. Hours less than 40 will be prorated accordingly.

Position Overview

In this role, you will utilize the nursing process and operate under general guidance within UNMMG clinic protocols, supporting healthcare providers as necessary, while supervising nursing staff and medical assistants in delivering care to assigned patients. You will manage shift and schedule assignments, ensuring adequate staffing to fulfill clinic requirements. This position also entails supervising staff and patient care delivery in accordance with UNMMG policies and serving as a clinical resource and role model for team members.

Essential Qualifications for the Outpatient Registered Nurse Supervisor

An Associate degree in nursing with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required. Candidates must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico. Candidates with degrees from accredited institutions exceeding the minimum educational requirement may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis. Verification of education and licensure will be required upon selection.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Utilize independent judgment to assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients and providers; designate shift and schedule assignments based on care plans, patient needs, and staff qualifications.
  2. Perform supervisory functions including recruitment, termination, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, scheduling, and task assignments; encourage staff involvement in organizational initiatives.
  3. Act as a liaison between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other resources to enhance communication, problem-solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict resolution.
  4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, considering age-specific needs and patient/family education using a patient-centered approach.
  5. Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent is obtained; may implement emergency measures and administer medications, including IV medications as necessary.
  6. Adhere to patient safety policies and maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, in line with UNMMG clinic standards.
  7. Identify and report environmental conditions that may pose risks to patients; promptly report potential or actual safety concerns, medical errors, or near misses.
  8. Ensure patient medical records are complete and accurate.
  9. Participate in maintaining AAAHC accreditation and compliance with regulatory standards.
  10. Promote and adhere to the core expectations of the clinic's clinical models, such as Patient-Centered Medical Home.
  11. Review patient information in collaboration with the healthcare team and facilitate patient care conferences as needed.
  12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
