Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Supervisor to join our team at UNM Medical Group, Inc. in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising nurses and medical assistants in the provision of care to assigned patients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Leadership
    • Assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients and providers, designating shift and schedule assignments as needed.
    • Perform supervisory functions, including selection, termination, training, performance appraisal, disciplinary counseling, and actions.
    • Delegate and monitor completion of duties, ensuring that staff are working efficiently and effectively.
  • Patient Care and Services
    • Work in collaboration with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized plans of care, incorporating age-specific considerations and patient/family teaching.
    • Act as a liaison between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other resources to promote and facilitate communication, problem-solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict management.
    • May assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained, and administer medication as required.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols, maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
    • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk, and report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and/or near misses in a timely manner.
  • Administrative and Operational
    • Participate in achieving and maintaining AAAHC accreditation and meeting regulatory requirements.
    • Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the clinic's clinical model(s), such as Patient Centered Medical Home, etc.
    • Review patient information/reports in collaboration with the healthcare team, and facilitate and/or participate in patient care conferences, if applicable.
    Requirements
    • Associate degree in nursing with 2 years of nursing experience.
    • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New Mexico.
    • Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
