Salary Range: Minimum $66,768 - Midpoint $85,113*

*Compensation is based on total relevant experience.

*Salary is calculated based on a 1.0 FTE (full-time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. For those working less than 40 hours/week, salary will be prorated accordingly.

Position Overview

The Supervisor of Outpatient Registered Nurses will utilize the nursing process and operate under general supervision, adhering to UNMMG clinic policies. This role involves supporting healthcare providers and supervising nursing staff and medical assistants in delivering patient care. Responsibilities include assigning shifts and schedules to ensure adequate staffing to meet clinic demands, while also serving as a clinical resource and role model for the team.

Essential Qualifications for the Supervisor, Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN)

Applicants must possess an Associate degree in nursing along with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience. A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico is required. Candidates with higher education credentials from accredited institutions may substitute education for experience on a year-for-year basis. Verification of education and licensure will be required upon selection.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Utilize independent judgment to assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients and providers; designate shift and schedule assignments based on patient needs and staff qualifications.
  2. Conduct supervisory functions including recruitment, termination, training, performance evaluations, and scheduling; encourage staff involvement in organizational initiatives.
  3. Act as a liaison among physicians, staff, patients, families, and other resources to enhance communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporating age-specific considerations and patient/family education.
  5. Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent is obtained; provide emergency measures and administer medications as necessary.
  6. Adhere to patient safety policies and maintain a therapeutic environment for patients and families, in line with UNMMG standards.
  7. Identify and address environmental conditions that may pose risks to patients; report safety concerns and medical errors promptly.
  8. Ensure patient medical records are complete and accurate.
  9. Participate in maintaining AAAHC accreditation and meeting regulatory standards.
  10. Promote and adhere to the clinic's clinical models, such as Patient-Centered Medical Home.
  11. Review patient information in collaboration with the healthcare team and participate in patient care conferences as applicable.
  12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
