Overview:

The Cardiac Monitoring Technician operates under the guidance of a licensed healthcare professional. This role involves the continuous observation of patients on cardiac telemetry systems, diligently monitoring and documenting any alterations in heart rhythms. The technician is responsible for maintaining comprehensive records of all activities during their shift, as well as performing 12-lead EKGs. Effective communication with physicians and patient care teams is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor patients' cardiac telemetry and document changes in rhythm.
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of telemetry monitoring equipment in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Report any maintenance concerns regarding the monitoring equipment.
  • Order necessary supplies related to cardiac telemetry monitoring.

Qualifications:

Education and Skills: Relevant educational background in healthcare or related fields.

Experience: Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.

Certifications:

Current BLS Certification is required.

Completion of a Basic EKG course is necessary.
