Position Summary

The Wastewater Systems Control Technician is responsible for providing specialized knowledge in the upkeep and repair of control systems, electrical components, and instrumentation within our facilities. This role requires a blend of independent and collaborative work, addressing complex challenges while adhering to stringent regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering guidelines to assemble electronic units, utilizing expertise in electronic principles.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of electronic units using standard testing equipment and analyze outcomes to determine necessary adjustments.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and calibration of various systems and equipment.
  • Assemble, test, and maintain electronic circuitry in accordance with technical specifications.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues in malfunctioning circuitry and electronic components.
  • Maintain comprehensive logs and manuals documenting equipment testing and operations.
  • Calibrate and maintain various sensors and meters essential for monitoring operational parameters.
  • Resolve issues with variable frequency drives and perform necessary internal repairs.
  • Replace and maintain electrical components within motor control centers.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on microprocessor-based electronic devices.
  • Manage the upload and download of PLC programs as required.
  • Ensure the functionality of instruments used for monitoring and controlling flow, pressure, and temperature.
  • Calibrate gas detection systems and perform necessary repairs across facilities.
  • Conduct maintenance on emergency generators and associated electrical systems.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Provide guidance and training to fellow staff members as needed.
  • Engage in continuous improvement practices to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will possess a combination of education and experience that enables them to perform the essential functions of the role. Key qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid electrical license or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience in wastewater treatment or related industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in reading technical documents and performing basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and the capacity to work in various environmental conditions.

Work Environment:

The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, necessitating adherence to safety guidelines and the use of personal protective equipment.
