Job Summary

The Strategic Business Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the property's operations, including guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, sales, and revenue generation. This role requires a strong strategic mindset, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Strategy Development
    • Stay current with industry trends and monitor competitors' strengths and weaknesses.
    • Develop business plans to maximize customer satisfaction, profitability, and market share.
    • Ensure property business plans align with the hotel's business strategies.
  • Business Strategy Execution
    • Execute business plans to maximize customer satisfaction, profitability, and market share.
    • Hold property leadership teams accountable for successful delivery of business plans.
    • Experiment with new ideas and take calculated risks to improve guest satisfaction and profitability.
  • Sales and Marketing
    • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing team to develop revenue-generating strategies.
    • Identify new business leads, develop tailored sales approaches, and actively pursue leads.
    • Validate that sales and marketing strategies align with brand strategy and are effectively executed against established goals.
  • Talent Management and Organizational Capability
    • Create a cohesive and high-performance Executive Committee.
    • Coach Executive Committee members and hold them accountable for performance.
    • Create learning and development opportunities for employees.
  • Business Information Analysis
    • Review business-related data, such as market share, financial performance, inventory, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction.
    • Analyze business information to proactively address changing market conditions and ensure property operations within budgetary guidelines.
  • Employee and Labor Relations
    • Verify that all employees are treated fairly and with respect.
    • Build rapport with employees by fostering an environment of open communication and spending time with employees on the frontlines.
  • Revenue Management
    • Work with the Revenue Management team to develop effective pricing strategies.
    • Establish revenue strategies that support the hotel's positioning in the local market.
  • Owner Relations
    • Build strong rapport with property owners through proactive and ongoing communication.
    • Keep owners informed of brand initiatives and guest experiences.
  • Customer and Public Relations Management
    • Interact with guests and other customers to obtain feedback about their experiences.
    • Utilize guest feedback to recognize outstanding employee service performance and improve service delivery.
  • Company/Brand Policy, Procedures, and Standards Compliance
    • Verify property compliance with legal, safety, operations, labor, and Marriott brand product and service standards.
    • Conduct quality assurance audits with specific departments.
Requirements
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 8 years' experience in management operations, sales and marketing, finance and accounting, or related professional area.
  • OR 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 6 years' experience in management operations, sales and marketing, finance and accounting, or related professional area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • General Manager experience in limited or full-service property.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and late nights.
  • Property industry work experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.
