Role Overview:
This full-time position emphasizes cash receipts and general accounting responsibilities. The Staff Accountant will uphold the integrity of financial data by meticulously recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. This role requires close collaboration with the Assistant Controller, the Executive Director of Financial Operations, and other members of the Business Office to manage daily, monthly, and annual financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cash Receipts Management:
    Process and deposit incoming payments from students, donors, and other sources. Maintain clear communication with various departments regarding payment statuses and ensure proper accounting for all transactions.
  • General Accounting Duties:
    Prepare, review, and record entries, invoices, and receivables in both general and subsidiary ledgers. Set up new vendors in the ERP system and conduct monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, with a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in higher education accounting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computerized ledger systems.

Compensation and Benefits:
NECO offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $65,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical coverage, mental health support, dental insurance, generous paid time off, and retirement plan contributions.
