Coastal Engineer/Coastal Modeler

About the Role

We're looking for a talented professional with a strong background in coastal processes, coastal engineering, or oceanography. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in hydrodynamic and wave modeling, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement complex engineering calculations and modeling for coastal projects
  • Perform statistical and probabilistic risk analysis associated with coastal hazards
  • Conduct numerical modeling for simulating circulation, waves, water quality, sediment transport, and mixing
  • Organize and interpret engineering data, prepare design calculations, and create clear and concise design drawings and reports
  • Coordinate work with other coastal engineers and professionals, and support the preparation of proposals and marketing efforts
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Coastal Engineering or Oceanography, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in coastal engineering, coastal hydrodynamics, or oceanography
  • Strong understanding of risk-based statistics and probability distributions
  • Experience with numeric models commonly applied to coastal environments, including ADCIRC, Delft3D, and SWAN
  • Ability to set up, calibrate, validate, and troubleshoot numerical models
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 2 years
  • Demonstrated project experiences through professional publications and presentations
  • Experience with water resource engineering projects, including aquatic habitat restoration and coastal resilience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to conduct effective client and agency presentations and written technical report preparation
