Essential Qualifications

The Speech Language Pathologist must possess:

  • A valid, unrestricted license in the relevant therapy discipline.
  • Educational qualifications that meet licensure standards.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of employment.
  • Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and guidelines related to skilled nursing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Planning, developing, and directing speech language pathology services in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Implementing treatment plans based on physician's orders and adhering to the standards set by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators related to speech language pathology services.
  • Coordinating timely screenings, evaluations, and documentation for residents.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress and discharge planning.

Professional Conduct

Maintaining positive relationships with residents, families, and staff is crucial. The Speech Language Pathologist is expected to:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communication.
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about regulatory requirements and best practices in the field.

Additional Responsibilities

As part of your role, you will also:

  • Uphold the dignity and rights of all residents.
  • Participate in safety drills and training sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
