Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at MEMIC. As a key member of our Finance and Risk departments, you will play a critical role in supporting financial decision-making and ensuring the accuracy of our financial data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze financial data, including dividend calculations, deductible billing, and accounting journal entries.
  • Support financial decision-making by collecting, investigating, and reporting financial data.
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team to resolve issues and ensure timely and accurate payment of dividends.
  • Manage the monthly deductible billing process, ensuring timely and accurate billing and statement delivery.
  • Track and calculate periodic collateral adjustments, and coordinate with underwriting, agents, and policyholders to ensure timely receipt and disbursement of collateral funds.
  • Prepare monthly reporting requirements, including deductible billing aging reports and associated reporting of collateral, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Provide customer service support for deductible billing and associated support to premium billing and underwriting teams.
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries and reconciliations, including accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, paid losses, and case reserves.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years' work experience or equivalent work and education experience required.
  • Intermediate business perspective, including some understanding of the political nature of the organization.
  • Ability to work well in tight timeframes and deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced data utilization skills, including a basic understanding of what the data represents.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to identify customers' needs and take appropriate action to meet those needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
