The Sous Chef is a key member of the culinary team at Burr Ridge Senior Living, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen and providing leadership to kitchen personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide professional leadership and direction to kitchen personnel, including hiring and training Line Cooks and Dishwashers.
  • Food and Supply Management: Place food and supply orders, ensuring that the kitchen is well-stocked and equipped to meet the needs of residents and staff.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all food is prepared to a high standard, with correct plate presentation and presentation.
  • Cost Control: Oversee kitchen labor and food cost, monitoring budget and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Food Safety: Complete and document safety audits and monthly in-service trainings, ensuring that the kitchen meets all relevant health and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required, college or culinary training preferred.
  • Experience: Previous leadership experience preferred, with a strong background in culinary operations.
  • Certifications: Must hold a Managers Food Handlers permit, which may be facilitated by Spectrum Retirement.
  • Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks at once.
