Job Title: Fish and Wildlife Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fish and Wildlife Technician to join our team at the Department of Fish and Wildlife. As a Fish and Wildlife Technician, you will assist in implementing management plans on ecological reserves and wildlife areas, including planning and completing wildlife habitat maintenance and restoration activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain dirt roads, fences, and water supply systems
  • Post boundaries and control vegetation
  • Perform general building, facility, and equipment maintenance
  • Operate and maintain automotive, farming, and construction equipment
  • Work with power and hand tools
  • Participate in fish and fish habitat surveys and management projects
  • Assist biologists or other research personnel in collecting wildlife census and habitat condition data

Working Conditions:

This is a field-based position that requires working in inclement weather and remote locations. You will be required to complete physical labor, including digging trenches, painting, and repairing troughs. Tasks may require wading and swimming in deep water.

Requirements:

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow verbal or written instructions and directions
  • Ability to concentrate and stay focused to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to work unusual hours and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
  • Ability to do heavy manual labor and work in adverse weather conditions
