Job Overview:

Bayside Solutions is seeking a dynamic professional with a scientific background to assume a pivotal role as a Procurement Manager within our Research and Development division. This position entails overseeing procurement-related functions including sourcing initiatives, managing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), nurturing supplier partnerships, and optimizing procurement processes to support the development of pipeline compounds and clinical programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee purchase orders, facilitate cross-departmental collaboration, and lead negotiations with suppliers.
  • Drive process enhancements aimed at cost efficiency and generate reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data, leading to effective measurement reporting and purchasing metrics.
  • Proactively identify, address, and expedite challenges to ensure timely procurement of necessary materials.
  • Maintain database parameters while collaborating across functions to ascertain business requirements.
  • Negotiate advantageous terms with suppliers to meet cost, schedule, and performance expectations.
  • Support supplier alignment by comprehending the total delivered cost to capitalize on purchasing opportunities.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment with purchasing strategies and company objectives.
  • Manage supplier relationships to guarantee optimal cost and delivery performance, including key performance indicators and scorecards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience along with a BS/BA; or 3 years of experience with an MA/MS or MBA in a corporate setting, ideally in procurement and supplier management.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with business partners.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, contract management, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with RFPs and RFQs.
  • Act as a strategic ally to the Business Unit, aligning business goals, challenges, projects, and requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards, with comprehensive knowledge of industry practices.
  • Ability to develop category and sourcing strategies by pinpointing opportunity areas and effectively managing procurement spend in designated categories.
  • Experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects and teams concurrently within a matrixed organization.

Preferred Skills:

  • BS/BA degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience with Coupa is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Capable of problem-solving and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and vendor management abilities.
  • Experience in Research and Development settings.
