Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Critical Care Float Pool team at University Hospital in Madison, WI. As a critical care nurse, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of intensive care units (ICUs) and intermediate care (IMC) units, caring for critically ill patients and providing high-quality, evidence-based care.

Responsibilities
  • Float across multiple departments and specialties, caring for complex patient populations in ICUs and IMCs.
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care, utilizing critical thinking skills to evaluate and assess patients, recognize and escalate complications, and safely administer nursing interventions and advanced life support therapies.
  • Partner with dynamic multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care, honing interpersonal communication skills and effectively delegating tasks as necessary.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model, orienting new nurses and working with nursing students, while also contributing to strategic planning efforts, quality improvement, and Shared Governance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • At least six months of nursing experience or current participation in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification and ACLS certification within six months.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact.
