Position Summary
The Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to support the Division of Correctional Health Services. This role is essential in ensuring the effective delivery of pharmaceutical care within the correctional system, contributing to the health and well-being of a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage unit dose and carry medication distribution systems.
- Assist in maintaining accurate patient medication profiles by promptly notifying the pharmacist of any changes.
- Prepare and label patient medication cassettes and discharge medications accurately.
- Coordinate with external methadone clinics to verify patient medication history.
- Conduct monthly inspections of drug storage areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Support the pharmacist in preparing and packaging medications, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment, ensuring all areas are well-stocked and orderly.
- Document daily activities and maintain accurate records as required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training program or equivalent experience.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required for new hires.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and drug classifications.
- Proficient in using pharmacy management systems and basic office equipment.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
