Correctional Health Services Nurse

Employed by New York City Health + Hospitals Correctional Health Services, the Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for delivering medical care, mental health care, and discharge planning in the jail system. This role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to provide patients with care, education, and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains a comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment for patients.
Records patients' vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, food/fluid input/output, etc., in the electronic health record.
Assists with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene of patients.
Assists with patient positioning, standing, walking, and transferring.
Collects samples of blood and/or urine for testing.
Performs routine laboratory tests as ordered.
Prepares, administers, and documents prescribed medications via the ordered route.
Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to policy.
Requirements:
LPNs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician.
Punctual and dependent on assigned/confirmed shifts.
Working Conditions:
Nurses are required to work every other weekend.
