Position Title: Missile Threat Modeling and Simulation Engineer
SEG fosters an engaging atmosphere that promotes both technical and leadership development. In this position within the Aerospace Branch, you will contribute to the creation of trajectory models and representations of adversarial missile systems.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include...
Primary duties encompass:
- Crafting intelligence-driven analytical models and tools to assess the performance of threat ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and hypersonic vehicles.
- Formulating inputs and modules related to aerodynamics, mass properties, propulsion, guidance, navigation, and control.
- Analyzing variations and uncertainties in missile performance.
- Simulating threat missile excursions and performing design trade studies.
- Producing and assessing digital trajectory data utilizing 6-DOF simulation methodologies.
- Documenting and presenting findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Assisting ongoing initiatives to establish a high-fidelity Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) digital flight simulation framework.
- Engaging in research and refining toolsets to enhance modeling techniques and optimize existing processes.
Essential Skills You Should Possess...
Required Qualifications:
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens eligible for a DoD Secret clearance.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering (advanced degrees are advantageous).
- At least 5 years of pertinent work experience.
- Expertise in the analysis and modeling of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and/or hypersonic systems, including flight dynamics, vehicle performance characterization, propulsion system design, aerodynamics prediction, guidance, navigation, control, and flight test data analysis.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python programming languages.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the C++ programming language is a plus.
- An active DoD Secret clearance is desirable.
