Position Overview

Under the guidance of the designated administrator and in collaboration with program coordinators, oversee, organize, and manage the operations of designated academic support initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities associated with the assigned programs/services may encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, and manage the operations of designated student and/or academic support initiatives aimed at enhancing student success and overall program efficiency.
  • Coordinate various support services.
  • Establish and maintain precise recordkeeping for assigned programs and relevant agencies, which may include student eligibility, participation, and progress tracking.
  • Facilitate services supporting students enrolled in courses, including those in an online format.
  • Train, supervise, and assess the performance of assigned staff.
  • Engage in the recruitment and selection of new personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets and expenditures for functions and activities in alignment with District policies.
  • Develop and implement departmental procedures, forms, activities, and materials necessary for the efficient operation of assigned programs.
  • Conduct training and ensure effective implementation for optimal program operations and accountability.
  • Participate in program evaluations and audits.
  • Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and monitoring of area/program funds, budget allocations, expenditures, and related functions to ensure adherence to established guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit program and grant-related plans, reports, and other documentation.
  • Interpret and apply complex procedures in diverse situations using independent judgment.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and the public.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships, collaborating with other college and district personnel, faculty, administrators, and agency representatives.
  • Coordinate workshops and events related to assigned programs.
  • Administer disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local high schools, area employers, and community organizations to enhance opportunities for students.
  • Oversee and participate in outreach and recruitment initiatives.
  • Lead or serve on relevant committees.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Outreach
  • Reading Writing Center
  • Tutoring
  • Veterans Resources Center

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory role, in student services, academic support services, public services, community college and/or public agency program development, coordination, and evaluation, or similar experience.

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited institution along with two additional qualifying years of experience.

Possess an equity-minded focus, demonstrating responsiveness and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities, as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equivalent to 12 months of experience at 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: One year of education is equivalent to 30 semester units.)

Education must be from an accredited institution.
