Job Overview

Position Objective:

The individual in this role will oversee the coordination of a national logistics strategy aimed at enhancing internal transportation efficiency, execution, carrier performance, cost management, and customer satisfaction. This entails managing a carrier strategy that balances service quality and cost-effectiveness; developing teams and individuals to meet business objectives and strategies, while leveraging technology to refine processes and establish best practices. The Regional Director will supervise all transportation-related services within the Del Monte Fresh Produce Company NA Inc, encompassing all locations across the region, branch-to-branch operations, and global requirements as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of transportation workflows and training programs, ensuring standardized inbound and outbound processes, effective communication, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with logistics and transportation teams, locations, and global partners to ensure alignment of processes and procedures with current and future technologies, as well as organizational changes.
  • Evaluate best practices and formulate processes that enhance efficiency throughout the transportation supply chain, ensuring alignment with transportation goals across all channels.
  • Establish and standardize transportation procedures that support both short-term and long-term objectives within the broader supply chain framework.
  • Provide leadership in people and processes: create and manage a regional organizational structure that aligns with business goals; mentor individuals to effectively implement transportation strategies and initiatives, including succession planning for critical roles.
  • Serve as a key contact and subject matter expert on procedural alignment with logistics and transportation teams, ensuring comprehensive support and connectivity across all inter-departmental processes.
  • Engage in the development, training, and deployment of new technologies to maximize value and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with procurement on sourcing, contracting, and managing domestic and international transportation service providers.
  • Oversee the procurement and leasing of equipment, including tractors and trailers, as well as maintenance operations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Supply Chain, Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience is acceptable.
  • A minimum of 7 years in transportation, demonstrating progressive leadership roles and a commitment to continuous improvement; experience with Transportation Management System software and change management is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience, ideally with a focus on private fleet management.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience with ELD applications.
  • Experience in driver interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Logistics or a related field.
  • Experience with McLeod Load Master software.
  • Prior experience using Motive ELD.
  • In-depth knowledge of the logistics industry, along with relevant certifications.
  • Extensive experience in logistics systems analysis, spreadsheet modeling, and managing large data sets.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
