About the Role

The Lead Educational Technician III role provides academic instruction and behavioral support in special purpose schools. This position works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to design and provide services that support the achievement of academic, behavioral, and daily living goals of students in accordance with the Individual Treatment Plan, IEP, and/or behavioral support plan.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide academic instruction and behavioral support to students in special purpose schools.
  2. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to design and provide services that support student goals.
  3. Mentor, train, and support other team members.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Certification as an Education Technician III from the Maine Department of Education required (minimum of 90 credits in approved study).
  • Experience: Two years of relevant experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders, mental health disorders, and/or challenging behaviors in a school, hospital, or residential setting preferred.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Required: DOE fingerprinting.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to students/patients (ages 5-20) with consideration of variable cognitive abilities, developmental levels, and culture patterns.
  • Minimal proficiency in swimming in shallow and deep water to secure safety of students in event of an emergency.
