Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lead Preschool Educator and Program Director to lead our preschool program at First Church Preschool in Portland, CT. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with assistant teachers to develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, selecting effective developmental materials, and providing positive behavior reinforcement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement curriculum that promotes children's academic and social growth.
  • Support creativity and learning through engaging activities and experiences.
  • Provide supervision during activities and ensure the classroom is safe and organized.
  • Select age-appropriate developmental materials that align with state standards.
  • Maintain open communication with parents through regular conferences.
  • Work with the school board to ensure compliance with state license requirements.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.
  • At least three years of teaching or child care experience.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Additional credits in educational administration (within one year of hiring).
Compensation and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $31,312 per year, paid biweekly from September 15th to June 30th. Preparation for the school year begins two weeks prior to the first day of school. We offer a competitive benefits package that includes opportunities for professional growth and development.
