The Payroll Operations Manager will oversee the coordination of payroll functions throughout the enterprise, ensuring timely and accurate processing, production, and distribution of payroll and related remittances. This role will also be responsible for payroll tax filings, development and monitoring of institutional payroll policies and procedures, compliance with federal, state, and local laws governing payroll, and management of payroll staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining payroll records as required
  • Establishing, documenting, and implementing procedures to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and record keeping
  • Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local laws and regulations related to payroll
  • Filing tax returns and reports, and making payments, as mandated timely and accurately
  • Appropriately and efficiently processing payroll-related data
  • Ensuring accurate processing in the payroll system of transactions affecting payroll, including calculation of employee pay and maintenance of earning and deduction codes
  • Overseeing the accurate transfer of data to the general ledger, the Human Resources Information System, and other systems as appropriate
  • Designing and preparing reports of payroll data as needed
  • Providing for the development and training of payroll, Finance, Human Resource, and hospital staff in payroll systems and procedures
  • Ensuring high-quality payroll services are provided to employees
  • In collaboration with Director, hiring, training, developing, and directing assigned staff to meet departmental objectives
  • Providing timely coaching and performance feedback
  • Deploying staff appropriately to meet business objectives

This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 10 years of payroll experience, with at least 5 years of experience using PeopleSoft 8, and at least 3 years of accounting and/or payroll supervisory experience preferred.
